Player name: Joel Schonbrunn

Blast

Duration: instant
Range: 10’ radius
Required Verbal Component: “Blast!”
Description: All characters within range are knocked off their feet. No damage is caused. The caster is not subject to the spell’s effects.

Verbal:

The sky reaches out above me
At the Center blasts a living Flame

Bless-Sanctuary/Heal

Duration: special
Range: special
Marker: roll of string, marking ribbon, etc. and a strip of red cloth
Description: Bless has two distinct functions. First, it can be used to consecrate a 10’ radius area as ‘holy ground’. Do this by placing the spell marker around the area you wish to bless. After the spell is cast, attach a strip of red cloth to the area marker to indicate that the spell is active. A blessed area lasts for 5 minutes. Undead and spirits cannot pass into the area. If used as a touch spell upon undead or spirits, bless will cause one BP of damage.
The second use of bless is to heal a character. As a touch spell, it will heal one BP of damage. A target cannot surpass their original total number of BP.
Say Aloud
“A piece of wild on the edge of the tame
You are home to wild spirits who live with us
You who live here, be pleased with this offering
Give us a piece of the wild to keep us alive and fresh”
Curse
Exception: can only be cast once per day
Duration: 30 minutes
Range: touch
Counter Spell: remove curse
Description: This spell causes all attacks (magikal and normal) to do double damage against the target. The target will also be subject to other bad luck, which requires a bit of role-playing on the target’s part, and possibly even from other players in the area.
ted or magikal items, scrolls (written in magik script), and magikal potions and powders (alchemist only). Decipher magik does not allow the caster to utilize the spells out of another’s book, but does allow one to know what is in that spell book. Once an object is read, the spell need not be cast again to read the same object. If there is not a marker or OOG information tag explaining the magik being deciphered, the caster must either learn the details from the owner of the item or find a GM.
Say Aloud
“Hail to you, Might ones of old
From ancient times till now your splendor endures
Listen to our words; you will find them sweet
Your children pray to you here
Never more will the altars be unattended
Never again the time of waiting
Your children look to you once again”

Detect Magik

Duration: instant
Range: 10’
Counter Spell: suppress aura (see below)
Description: This spell enables the caster to detect all magik within the range. The caster will detect magikal items, spell area effects, people under the influence of a spell, and all spell-casters. All mages and visible magikal items will glow with a magikal aura. If a magikal item is hidden from view, the area in which it is concealed will glow with a magikal aura.

Suppress aura will counter detect magik only when cast upon a spell caster (see suppress aura). There is no way to counter detect magik when it is cast to diagnose magikal items or spell effects.
Say Aloud
“Dragons of the Covenant, grant me Magik of Vision and Vision of Magik”

Drain Life

Duration: special
Range: touch
Description: When cast, this spell allows the caster to usurp BP from another being. The caster must touch the target, and speak aloud: “Drain life once, drain life twice”, etc. For each number that they reach, the target loses that many BP and the caster gains them. The target cannot be drained of more points than they have, nor can the caster gain more BP than their original total. While the caster can only absorb up to their limit, they can continue to drain life until the target reaches zero BP.
The spell ends when contact with the target is broken. The spell in no way hinders or binds the target, who is free to act.
Say Aloud
“Dragons of the Covenant, accept my Hospitality
Being in the childhood of our race,
we acknowledge our debts
As you give, so will I
Be my guests at this feast”

Empower

Duration: one minute
Range: touch or potion/powder dose
Counter Spell: dispel magik
Description: This spell grants the target greater strength. In OOG terms, this means that the target does two points of damage per strike in combat. Like the natural strength of an ogre, a blow from an empowered character will often knock others off their feet (requires some role-playing by others.)
For game-play purposes, the empowered character should announce “Empower – two” when landing a blow in combat.

The Fire of Milgroos is the flame in my heart
Force and Fire, Strength of arms
Smasher of Serpents, Empower me Milgroos
Endure
Exception: each character can only be the target of this spell once a day
Duration: special
Range: touch or potion/powder dose
Description: This spell provides the target with two additional BP. The target can go above their normal maximum number of BP, but cannot surpass ten HP.
Dispel magik has no effect.
“Watchers on the threshold, may the Dragons of the Covenant guide and guard you”
Haven
Duration: 5 minutes
Range: special
Required Component: caster’s arm stretched above caster’s head
Description: Once cast, all characters that are in physical contact with the caster are protected by the spell. This can be direct contact with the caster or indirect contact thru a chain of people that begins with the caster. This protection prevents damage from any physical or damage causing magikal attacks.
Persons inside the haven cannot be physically or magikally pushed, pulled, smacked, or otherwise removed against their will from the protection. Someone inside a haven can, however, voluntarily leave the spell simply by breaking contact with the caster.
Once haven is cast, other people may not join the protection.
The group within the haven is free to speak, move, and otherwise interact with the world. They can also cast any of the following spells while protected, as long as they remain in contact with the caster of haven. Spells able to be cast on (or by) characters within a haven are: Animate dead, awaken, bless, comprehend magik, create scroll, cure blindness, dance, decipher magik, detect magik, ding-away, dispel magik, empower, endure, enchant item, haven, heal, immolate, invisibility, itch, laughter, lie, light, nausea, purify blood, purify food/drink/vessel, remove curse, repair, resurrect, speak with dead/undead, speak with monsters, true sight, truth, and unpetrify.
The caster is unable to regain CP or cast other magik while concentrating on the haven. The caster can extend the duration by casting haven again.
Dispel magik has no effect.

Whether from above or below, keep me safe
Light
Duration: 5 minutes
Range: strength of light source
Counter Spell: dispel magik (see below)
Special Component: light source (i.e. flashlight, glow stick)
Description: This spell enables the caster to call forth magikal light from a wand. Once the wand is lit, other characters can use it. For an alchemist or herbalist, this will be a concoction of two liquids that when mixed will give off a pale light (i.e. glow stick). Herbalist light potions cannot be dispelled.
As around our Home the Darkness Grows
I light the evening lights
As the daytime spirits depart,
I say my goodbyes:
You will stay in our hearts the whole night through
As the nighttime spirits gather about,
I give greetings to them:
May these lights honor you who come with the darkness

Magikal Enhancement

Duration: instant
Range: touch
Description: This spell allows the caster to double one characteristic of a spell cast by another mage. The increase can be applied to the range or area of effect, duration, or amount of damage. The caster of this spell must be in contact with the other mage at the time casting. This spell cannot be used to enhance the effects of a magikal item or a scroll. It also cannot be used to enhance one of your own spells.
To enhance a spell more than once, more than one mage casting magikal enhancement is needed. For example: to triple the duration of hold, one mage must cast hold, while two separate mages both cast magikal enhancement. There is no limit to the number of mages cooperating to enhance a spell.

Purify Blood

Duration: instant

Purify my Blood!

Repulse

Duration: special
Range: 10’
Required Verbal Component: “Repulse!”
Counter Spell: dispel magik
Description: This spell creates a 10’ radius barrier around the caster that no character can pass through. Anyone closer than 10’ at the time of casting is pushed away from the mage. Projectiles and magik can pass through the barrier.
The caster must hold arms outstretched and continue to repeat the word “repulse”. As soon as the caster stops saying the word “repulse”, the spell dissipates. The caster cannot engage in combat or cast any other spells while repulse is active.
Spirits are not affected by this spell.
This is the Day, This is the hour
Cry Aloud the Word of Power "Repulse"
Resurrect
Duration: instant
Range: touch
Special: each time resurrect is cast the caster loses two BP (until recovered).
Description: This spell allows the caster to bring a dead character back to life. Normally, this spell must be cast within 30 minutes of the target’s death. After 30 minutes, the target character is too far-gone to be revived. This spell must be uninterrupted to be successful. After a resurrection, the target is confused and extremely weak, and must rest for another 30 minutes.
A character can only be resurrected once per Campaign event.
"I am the dragon Milgroos, whose years are infinite. Through the Covenant, I lie down dead. I am born daily. I am the dragon Milgroos, the dweller in the uttermost parts of the earth. I lie down in death. Through the Covenant, I am born, I become new, I renew my humans every day"
Speak with Dead/Undead
Duration: 5 minutes
Range: 10’
Counter Spell: dispel magik
Description: This spell allows the caster to speak with a dead character or an undead creature. The dead/undead are not obligated to talk, nor must they answer truthfully.
Let this incantation be strong
To invoke the power of the dragons
of the covenant unto me,
Allowing my words to travel across the Veil
that I may speak with the departed

True Sight

Duration: 5 minutes
Range: line of sight
Counter Spell: dispel magik
Description: With this spell the target is able to see creatures that are magikally veiled from normal view (i.e. polymorphed, illusory, invisible, blended, etc.). Anything masked by a magikal effect will appear as it did before the masking effect took hold.
Power of the Seasons, fire within me
Clear sight and reason
Open My eyes

Ward

Duration: permanent
Range: limited only by length of the boundary marker
Marker: roll of string, marking ribbon, etc., and a strip of red cloth
Counter Spell: dispel ward, pass ward
Description: The caster must place the boundary marker in a closed shape (not necessarily circular) around any area that the caster wishes to protect. The marker must have the word “ward” written on it in some way (in several places) so that it can be seen.
This spell creates an impassable barrier. No weapons, people, or spells can cross the barrier. Only the caster of the ward (and any items he wears or carries) may pass through. Other living creatures cannot be carried through the ward. The ward cannot be moved by any means. If a character is partially across the ward boundary marker when the spell becomes active, they decide on which side to remain.
After the spell is cast, the caster must visibly attach a strip of red cloth to the boundary marker to indicate that the spell is active. The caster may willingly release the ward without using dispel ward. Once released by the caster the ward dissipates and must be recast.
Dispel magik has no effect.

Ward Item Duration: permanent
Range: size of item
Marker: roll of string, marking ribbon,
etc., and a strip of red cloth
Counter Spell: dispel ward, pass ward
The caster must place the marker in a closed shape around the target item. The marker must have the word “ward item” written on it in some way (in several places) so that it can be seen. After the spell is cast, the caster must visibly attach a strip of red cloth to the boundary marker to indicate that the spell is active.
This spell creates an impassable barrier around the target item. If the item is small, it can be transported (ward and all) but it cannot be manipulated inside the barrier by anyone other than the caster. Magikal items within a ward item will function as if they are normal items (without magikal enhancements) unless manipulated by the caster of the ward item.
The caster may dispel ward item at any time without using dispel ward. The caster can remove the item from the ward, which also dissipates the spell.
Since the spell is being cast around an item, no character or living being can be contained within the spell’s ward effect. This spell cannot be cast upon worn items (e.g. armor, clothing, etc.).
Dispel Magik has no effect.

Liturgy (General snippets that can be used in game as a Disciple of the Dragons of the Covenant)

Surround by all the numinous being of earth and sky and water
I pray with confidence, for I know your help is certain

I place ourselves at your service,
Gods of the people
Open us to your wishes
Make us a conduit for your will
Bringing forth your desires in the human world

This goes before me, opening the door
Key to the gods, be my way-shower

Riding the sound of the deep drumming
Come to me as I call to you
Come to the rhythm of the heartfelt pounding
Come to me as I call you here

Gods of Old, Long have you waited
Seemingly forgotten and outgrown
Waiting with the patience born of wisdom
For your children to remember you
And to come to you with open hearts
Awake, come, that day is here.
Once more, we pour libation
Once more, the old songs rise
Once more, the dance steps are traced
Once more, your names are spoken
Never more will the altars be unattended
Never again the time of waiting
Your children look to you once again
And pledge to you their faith

Hail to you, Might ones of old
From ancient times till now your splendor endures
We, your children, call out to you again;
As in the childhood of our race, we acknowledge our debts
Deities of light and deities of darkness
Both gods and goddesses: we praise you
Not forgetting one, not leaving any out,
We send our prayers to all of you
Listen to our words; you will find them sweet
Your children pray to you here

Accept my hospitality, Holy Ones
Be my guests at this feast
Renew the Ancient bonds
Continually recreated
As I give, so will you
For that is how true friends act
Great Company of Gods
I welcome you

I call to the holy ones with open hands
Asking that they come, that they grant me their presence
Might and shining ones, worth of worship
I stand before you with welcoming words
Come to me that we might feast together again

With this small flame, I send a message
It is my burning beacon fire
May you see it, shining ones
And draw near to me
Filled with the holy power the gods send to those they love
I rise up in ecstasy, taken by them to the land of blessings
Fill me, carry me, lift me in glory;
Welcome me to your home

I stand here on the summit of your high mountain
And think of you
Surrounded by the sky, lifted up into the sky itself,
The awesome clarity of your focused vision comes closer to me
And I am more aware, myself, of your law's urgings.
Lord of all that is right, of all that is just,
Of all that should be;
Judge and king of the world, or all who live and all that is
Advise me; make the right path open beneath my feet,
Make my eyesight clear, that I may always see as far
As I do from the top of this mountain of yours

Long is the hair of the Star Goddess
And long is the night in which I wait for her,
Lost in the expanse of limitless space
Containing an infinite number of stars,
Filled with emptiness
I cast myself into her measureless darkness
Confident that she will come if only I wait
Though the night may be long, I will still wait for her
Offering my patience in sacrifice to win her presence

Come to us in the fire on our hearth
Consume the logs gladly
Come to our home, Brighid of Protection;
Consume the logs gladly

Triple fire shining in the hearth of our home,
Brighid, healer Brighid, to you our worship,
To you our hearts calling
Triple flames burning in the hearth of our Strength
Brighid, Mighty Brighid, to you our worship

What is done in the night,
You see it
What is done in the day,
You see it
Who can hide from you
Who are found in all things
Where would we hide from you
Who are found in all things
Why would we hide from you
Whose love pours out on all things?

I think now of the ancient time, when your worship first was established. It has been a long time now since your worship was celebrated as it should be, with processions in the market places, with games to unite the scattered tribes, with hospitality granted to strangers in your name. Throughout the lonely times, you have waited patiently, in the sure foreknowledge that the night would end. See now, on the horizon; the light of Dawn begins to creep over the edge of the world! We need not wait much longer before the Sun will rise again and shine down once more on a world in which your worship is no longer neglected.

Through the Long night, we have kept your faith; in secret or in disguise we have performed the sacred acts. Sometimes, even unbeknownst to us, we have kept ancient lore alive. Now we hope to return to the light, to practice your ways openly and without fear, drawing the thoughts of others to you. In the backs of our people's minds, they have remembered you too. Now we will show them what they have forgotten.

This drink pours out, even as your bounty pours out, what I do here is only an image of your greater generosity

I pour out libations to the ancient High Ones,
I make my offerings to those who should be worshipped

You are a bull, and greatly to be praised,
worth of sacrifice, lord of life and death
You are a ram, and greatly to be praised,
You are a stallion, and greatly to be praised
Worth of sacrifice, lord of life and death
You are a boar, and greatly to be praised
Worth of sacrifice, lord of life and death
You who are the sacrifice
You who are the sacrificer,
You who are the lord of life and death

He is a bull in the field of the gods,
Ruling the herd:
Worthy of worship, worthy of praise
He is a stag in the forest of the spirits
Ruling the wilds:
Worthy of worship, worthy of praise
He is a king in the city of the Ancestors
Ruling the word
Worthy of worship, worthy of praise
The Lord of Forests is the lord of the city
King of gods, spirits, and Ancestors,
King of people in this world and the next:
Worth of worship, worthy of praise

You are the Hunter
You are the hunted
You are the killer
You are the killed
Forever going away
Forever coming back
Completing the circle
Of life and death

Spirits of the Darkness, You are my friends;
Though the night's blackness stands as a wall
You will show me the way through
My guides through shadows
My protectors from all terrors

You are journeying across the dividing water that lies between this world and the next
Carried away be the ferry man on your way
Look ahead of you, do not look behind
Look ahead of you, where your destiny lies
Do you see them? They are there, ahead of you on the other shore
Slowly, they become visible to you;
The shining ones appear slowly out of the concealing mists
Clearly they appear to you, though hidden from our eyes
Go to them, they welcome you
Go to them, not stopping for farewells
Holy Ones in the world Beyond,
Open wide your arms to receive this one who is journeying to you
Make him a home, bring him to rest

(Funeral)
Go your way to the land of the Ancestors,
Where they wait for you with open arms
There on the edge between this world and the next
See; there they stand
Ancestral spirits, welcome this one
To the place where we all must go

The Fire of Milgroos is the flame in my heart
Part the mists and guide me through
